Primero (The First of Many)

As part of a Study Abroad trip to Oviedo, Spain, I will be keeping a blog. This blog will be used as part of my grade for the classes I will be taking, and as a sounding board for my experiences in Spain.

I am really looking forward to Spain. I have exchanged several emails with my host family; they seem excited to have me as their guest and are looking forward to meeting me (they also know a little English, just in case). They say that Oviedo is very near the mountains, which is good news for the Utah crew (should help with the homesickness a little).
My Spanish is still rather weak, and while I am confident that this trip will help, I am still quite nervous about traveling where everything will be alien to me (the food, the cities, the culture, the language, etc). Of course, that will be half the fun of traveling to Spain (meeting the locals, stumbling over the language, and consoling myself for messing up the language by eating the food). It should be a wonderful experience and I am lucky to have been picked to benefit from it.
